Od 12. do 23. listopadu 2008 představí pražská galerie Karlin Studios výstavu rumunské fotografie s názvem Open Access RO_Archive. (kurátor: Aurora Kiraly; umělci: Iosif Kiraly, Bogdan Bordeianu, Michele Bressan, Simona Dumitriu, Bogdan Girbovan, Raluca Ionescu, Nicu Ilfoveanu). Výstava je homonymním kulturním projektem, připraveným pod záštitou University Umění v Bukurešti.
Wednesday 12 November will be the opening night, structured in the form of a multiple event that also involves presentations on Romanian contemporary art and the subject of the archive as cultural, artistic, and research initiative as well as an audio-visual performance.

Iosif Kiraly: born 1957. Works in photography, installation and performance. He is active internationally both as an artist in his own right and as member of the subREAL art duo. Since 1992 he teaches at the National University of Arts Bucharest where he became, in 1995, a founding member of the Photo-Video Department.
Nicu Ilfovena se narodil v roce 1975 a v roce 2000 dokončil studium na Univerzitě Umění v Bukurešti, na které posléze navázal magisterským studiem, ve kterém se zaměřil na film a fotografii v umění. V současné době je asistentem profesora na téže univerzitě a nadále působí na katedře fotografie a videa.
"Brazda lui Novac" is a project established in 1997 by Victor Popescu. The "Brazda lui Novac" style ranges from melodic synth effects to collages of 80's industrial, techno and punk sound, often mingled with dream pop, everything brought up-to-date in the most intimate IDM style. He has been performing live in collective events in Romania (Rokolectiv and AVmotional) as well as in events abroad such as the one held on 25 Oct. 2007 for the Jindrich Chalupecky prize in Roxy Nod experimental space in Prague.
Cosmin Moldovan - artist, born 1982 in Bistrita, lives and works in Bucharest. He is interested in photography, music, curating and VJ-ing, and has participated in a wide range of exhibitions and events.
pRO_ARCHIVE is based on a network of international partnerships that ensures the promotion in the E.U. of a pertinent selection of Romanian cultural projects presented in several cultural spaces in Austria, The Czech Republic, France, Germany, The Netherlands, and Sweden in an interdisciplinary perspective involving exhibitions, audio-visual performances, and public space projections. pRO_ARCHIVE involves an analysis of recent artistic initiatives by emerging as well as established artists (Matei Bejenaru, Alexandra Croitoru, Nicu Ilfoveanu, Iosif Kiraly, Vlad Nanca) in view of creating an archive of images that are relevant for recent Romania. An important part consists of already identified images from the virtual museum of The National University of Arts and from the photographic archive RO_ARCHIVE.
The cultural project RO_ARCHIVE, initiated by architect and visual artist Iosif Kiraly and scientifically coordinated by professor Mihail Manescu under the aegis of the Bucharest National University of Arts, puts forward a dynamic team of curators, artists, and sociologists, some of which are still MA or doctoral students: Raluca Nestor, Raluca Ionescu, Cristiana Radu, Anca Mihulet, Cristian Nae, Catalin Gheorghe, Simona Dumitriu, Bogdan Bordeianu, Michele Bressan, Bogdan Girbovan, Cosmin Moldovan. Their work involves theoretical research and visual documentation of the de/reconstruction of recent Romania, the archival process of an entire country in transformation, the international cultural precedents of their action, the role of archive and memory in contemporary art. RO_ARCHIVE has as its primary goal the construction of a cultural archive of texts and images.
